Class Code: 9088
Per NCCI's Scopes Code Description:
Code 9088 is “A” rated in certain jurisdictions and manually rated in others. As such, this scope has been divided into the two sections below to reflect appropriate classification assignments for the two different rating procedures.
Scope for “A” Rated Jurisdictions:
The following classification procedure is applicable in those jurisdictions in which Code 9088 is an “A” rated classification: Employees and technicians at the launching site working on the gantry towers, fueling missiles and in the bunkers or operating tracking equipment are assigned to either Code 4828 or 4829 based on both the nature and processes involved with the fuels employed. Some of the bases have shop areas several miles from the launching sites where missiles, particularly guided missiles, are assembled. The latter operations have been assigned to Code 3830—Aircraft Manufacturing in the average rating. In some cases, Code 3685—Instrument Manufacturing, has been authorized or Code 3632—Machine Shops NOC, depending on the characteristics of the work involved in these operations away from the launching site.
Scope for Manually Rated Jurisdictions:
The following classification procedure is applicable in those jurisdictions in which Code 9088 is manually rated: Code 9088 is applicable to insureds engaged in the business of rocket or missile testing or launching. Refer to Basic Manual Rule 1-D-3 to determine if shop areas operated by these insureds are to be separately rated.
