Class Code: 9060
Per NCCI's Scopes Code Description:
Code 9060 applies to clubs such as country clubs, golf clubs, fishing clubs, ski clubs, and yacht clubs where the majority of employees (excluding restaurant and bar employees) work outdoors engaged in activities associated with outdoor sports.
Employees assigned to this classification would include managers, teaching pros or instructors, bar or restaurant personnel, swimming pool and tennis court employees, and office employees.
Golf courses operated by municipalities are also assigned to Code 9060.
Employees working exclusively for a country club operation run by a hotel, resort, condominium, or other community association are included in Code 9060.
When “golf” employees are employed by others who have a contract with a hotel or motel to maintain and operate the golf course for its guests, Code 9060 applies.
Additional Applications and Information:
Pro shops located on the premises of country or golf clubs, whether operated by the club or by others, are assigned to Code 9060. These pro shops typically engage in the sale of sporting apparel or sporting goods. They may also arrange golf tournaments, give golf lessons, and operate driving ranges. These pro shops are assigned to Code 9060 based on the premise that they are an exposure normal to the operation of most country or golf clubs. As indicated in this classification’s footnote, caddies who do not receive pay from a club are included on a per club member basis of pay. This rule is applicable to those caddies considered employees for workers compensation purposes in a particular jurisdiction.
Related Operations Not Classified to Code 9060:
Marinas or boat berthing facilities operated in conjunction with country or yacht clubs and also open to the general public in addition to club members are separately classified.
