Per NCCI's Scopes Code Description:
Applies to dealers who handle secondhand material such as bottles, paper stock, rags and rubber. These materials can be collected from various sources, such as office buildings, wholesale mercantile establishments and manufacturing plants or they may be purchased from junk dealers.
Code 8264 also includes beverage bottle or can recycling. The material is usually picked up by truck, unloaded and sorted. Bottles are washed, racked and crated. Paper stock and rubber may be shredded or cut and baled. Rags are stripped, trimmed, washed, baled or packed. Refer to Code 8103 for employers that manufacture wiping cloths.
Code 8264 also applies to employers that destroy documents for others. Employees travel to office locations and shred sensitive documents with machinery. The transportation of the shredded documents is included in Code 8264. Refer to Code 9403 for employers that exclusively collect and haul shredded documents from office locations to a disposal site.
