Class Code: 6828F
Per NCCI's Scopes Code Description:
Codes 6828F and 6838 are assigned to insureds engaged in the fabrication or construction of fiberglass boats not exceeding 150 feet in length and to the repair and reconditioning of these vessels. Although the footnote to this classification specifically refers to yachts, motorboats, sailboats and rowboats, this classification has not been limited to the construction of pleasure watercraft but also is assigned to those risks predominately engaged in such operations, which will occasionally construct or repair commercial-type boats within the 150 feet in length limitation. This is in recognition of the fact that most of the pleasure-type boatbuilding concerns primarily engaged in the construction or repair of pleasure craft will on occasion repair or even construct small commercial watercraft.
Code 3632—Engine Mfg. NOC is assigned to risks engaged exclusively in the repair of inboard or outboard motors.
Code 8380—Automobile Repair Shop & Parts Department Employees & Drivers is assigned to the repair of boat motors performed by the operators of an automobile repair shop.
Insureds whose principal or primary operations are that of carpentry, cabinet making, plumbing, electrical work, etc., whose employees may do work aboard vessels would be assigned to the appropriate classification of their trade. However, if such employees are subject to the USL&HW Act, the rates would be increased by the Longshorepercentage and those increased rates would apply only to the payroll of employees engaged in operations subject to the USL&HW Act.
