Class Code: 5069
Per NCCI's Scopes Code Description:
Code 5069 is applied to insureds engaged in the erection or construction of iron or steel dwellings including assembling or fabricating at the job site. It contemplates any iron or steel work on one- or two-family residences or other buildings used for dwelling purposes, including Quonset huts, not exceeding two stories in height. The operations involve the raising of the structural members and securing by bolting, welding or riveting. Specialist contractors engaged in the erection of concrete structural beams or girders that have been cast by others also fall within the scope of this classification as well as specialist contractors engaged in the connecting of bar joists to the steel framework. Sheet metal siding erection or interior light-gauge steel frame erection are properly subject to divisions of payroll as are other contracting operations where the rules of the manual relating to payroll division will permit.
Code 5069 also is applied to insureds engaged in the erection of iron or steel in connection with military reservation construction not over two stories in height. This would include barracks, hospitals, mess halls, canteens or post exchanges, administration buildings, officers’ quarters and recreation centers. It is also applicable to the construction or repair of waterworks, powerhouses, warehouses used for storage of commissary goods, equipment, tanks, guns, etc., aircraft hangars, ammunition storehouses, repair shops, radio stations and similar erection or repair work when this work is included under the same contract for construction, provided the major erection or repair cost or the majority of payroll is expended in connection with buildings designed for the housing, welfare and keep of personnel. If the major erection or repair cost or the majority of payroll is expended in connection with buildings other than those designed for the housing, welfare and keep of personnel, the appropriate manual classifications shall be assigned to the erection or repair of such buildings.
Welding operations, whether performed by principal or by specialist contractors in connection with iron or steel erection, are considered incidental to Code 5069.
Please refer to Code 5403 for extra-territorial premium determination guidelines that may be applicable to insureds that have operations outside their headquarters’ state.
