Class Code: 4493
Per NCCI's Scopes Code Description:
Code 4493 is applicable to insureds engaged in the business of coating or impregnating fabrics with oils, varnishes, lacquers, plastics or rubber. Fabrics may be coated or impregnated using spreading, dipping or pressurizing processes. As necessary, the fabric may be drained of excess solutions and/or dried or baked in ovens.
Code 4493 also contemplates the manufacture of such products as oilcloth, imitation or synthetic leather, laminated cloth products, linoleum, asphalt tile, plastic-coated fiberglass and similar products.
Certain Code 4493 operations are designated as “not otherwise classified” (NOC). These NOC operations shall apply to an insured only when no other classification more specifically describes the insured’s operations. The following is a representative list of operations somewhat related in nature to Code 4493 operations that are not assigned to Code 4493:
|Building or Roofing Paper or Felt Preparation—No Installation
|Rubber Goods Mfg. NOC
|Cloth Printing—Silk Screen Process
|Electroplating (coating of conducting surfaces)
In addition to this representative list, one should review sources such as the alphabetical index in this manual to determine whether a classification other than Code 4493 or a classification other than one on the above list is applicable to the operations being reviewed for classification purposes.
Massachusetts Refer to Codes 2417 and 2501 for insureds engaged in silk screening operations. Code 2413 does not contemplate any type of silk screening operation.
