Per NCCI's Scopes Code Description:
Code 4036 is applied to insureds engaged in the manufacture of plasterboards, plaster blocks or those insureds who mix plaster or staff. (Staff is another name for plaster.)
Plaster or staff mixing contemplates insureds who receive plaster, staff, hair, wood fiber, powdered lime and sand from others. Plaster or staff is mixed with hair or wood fiber, lime and sand. The mixture is then bagged for shipment to others.
Plasterboard manufacturing contemplates insureds who add water to a plaster mixture to form a paste, which is spread upon a sheet of heavy paper. Another sheet of heavy paper is laid on top of the plaster. This composite is then rolled into a flat board. These boards are dried and, when dry, are cut to standard sizes and packaged for shipment.
The manufacture of wall and roof coatings of a stucco nature is assigned to Code 4036. These coatings are made by mixing water, sand and products such as chopped fiberglass, mineral spirits and polymers in vats. The mixture is then poured into containers for shipment.
The manufacture of cultured marble products such as bathroom vanity tops, shower pans and bathtubs is assigned by analogy to Code 4036. These products are manufactured by pouring a gelatinous mixture, usually composed of calcium carbonate and polyester resins, over fiberglass molds to achieve the desired shape, vibrating to remove bubbles and then, once cured, cleaning and buffing to a smooth finish.
Mortar manufacturing is additionally contemplated by this classification.
