Class Code: 3515

Per NCCI's Scopes Code Description:

This classification contemplates the manufacture of textile machinery such as looms, knitting machines, braiding machines, spinning frames, fly frames, roving frames, winders, pickers, tenter machines, carding machines, drying machines, calendars and others.

The operations can be compared to a high-grade machine shop employing the use of lathes, milling machines, shapers, grinders, drill presses, etc. The operations also contemplate extensive work in connection with assembly, finishing and inspection departments.

This classification is also applicable to the production of miscellaneous equipment used by the textile industry. In the manufacture of loom reeds, the operations are primarily of a metal working character because steel wire is processed by wire rolls, wire cutters and wire polishers. The processed wire is then set into frames on reed setting machines to complete the operation.

As to the loom harness, the process involves cotton yarn, which is twisted on cord twisters and made into heavy cord. The cord is then knitted into harness on harness knitting machines. Finally, the harness is placed on wood frames, shellacked by machine, dried and packed.

This classification is also applied to risks that manufacture or repair textile rollers used on spinning frames, speeders, slubbers and other textile carding and spinning machines. In addition, the classification has been assigned to the reneedling of half laps and other similar combing equipment.
