Class Code: 3303

Per NCCI's Scopes Code Description:

Code 3303 is applied to insureds engaged in the manufacture of all springs other than those made of wire. Leaf or flat springs, elliptical or oval coil springs and other springs, made from bar or strip iron received from others, require substantial proportions of blacksmithing, forging and tempering in the manufacturing process. Subsequent assembling and finishing operations are performed prior to shipment to customers such as automobile and truck manufacturers and mobile agricultural and construction machinery manufacturers.

Code 3303 is also applied by analogy to automobile bumper manufacturing, straightening and repair.

The processes involved in this operation include receiving damaged automobile bumpers from others; fitting the bumper to a pattern; beating it with hammers to straighten it; welding parts as necessary; and if chrome plated, stripping old chrome by grinding and dipping; greasing and polishing with a hot cleaner; dipping in nickel; rinsing; and dipping in a chrome-plated tank. The bumper is then polished on a buffing wheel to bring out a bright finish.
