Per NCCI's Scopes Code Description:

Code 2802 is applicable to insureds whose operations consist of the manufacture and/or assembly of wood products in a shop. The products manufactured typically will not require a high degree of finishing work. Installation or erection activities are not contemplated by Code 2802 but are assigned to an appropriate contracting or erection code.

The following list of wooden products typify those whose manufacture is contemplated by Code 2802: bleachers (spectator); buildings (portable); building beams and columns (laminated); doors; ladders; picket fences; roof trusses; sash; stairs and related products such as rails, banisters and stair treads; silos; tanks; wheelbarrows; windmills; and window screens.

Special Conditions:

If an insured engages in both carpentry shop and installation/erection operations, separate classifications may apply to each type of exposure. For example, preliminary shop carpentry performed by contractors in connection with the building of private residences may be assigned to Code 2802 while the actual building of the dwelling may be assigned to a carpentry construction classification such as Code 5645. Refer to the Basic Manual for rules governing this type of situation as well as the necessary record keeping requirements.
