Class Code: 1165

Per NCCI's Scopes Code Description:

Code 1165 applies to employees performing surface mining of all types of ore including certain minerals, e.g., phosphate rock, graphite, mica, talc, chalk, asphalt, asbestos, gypsum, etc. If necessary, the overburden is stripped off by use of draglines, power shovels, or self-propelled earthmoving equipment. The materials are then loaded onto dump trucks or belt conveyors for movement to railroad sidings and loading into ore cars for shipment to processing plants. The equipment generally involves the use of air compressors, mobile pneumatic drilling rigs, trucks, bulldozers, draglines, shovels, scrapers, pans, and conveyors.

Code 1165 is a “not otherwise classified” (NOC) classification. This means that Code 1165 will apply to an employer’s operation(s) only when no other classification more specifically describes the employer’s operation(s).
