Code 0008 applies to all acreage or facilities devoted to the cultivation, harvesting and packing of perishable vegetables such as those listed below.

Crops of this kind may involve more than one planting during a season, and upon maturity the produce must be harvested daily for shipment to market. An example of the type of crop contemplated by this code is tomatoes, which continue to bear over a period of time thus requiring continuous harvesting.

There is no distinction based on the type of equipment used in the cultivation and harvesting or on the area of the farm; however, Code 0008 usually contemplates more hand cultivation, picking and preparation for market than is found under other farm classifications.

The following is a list of specific crops contemplated by Code 0008: asparagus, beans (green), beets (table), broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cucumbers, eggplant, horseradish, kale, lettuce, onions (green), parsnips, peppers, radishes, rhubarb, rutabagas, spinach, sweet corn, taro, tomatoes, turnips, zucchini.

In Oregon, the harvesting of green table vegetables by knife (such as, but not limited to, broccoli and cauliflower) will be assigned to Code 0008.
